A "logical" computer that exists inside a PC. Multiple virtual machines can be running in a PC. Applications that run on one virtual machine are unlikely to affect the applications running on a different virtual machine. 16-bit applications (for example, Windows 3.1 applications) all run on the same virtual machine in Windows 95, thus, if one crashes, it is likely to make the rest of the 16-bit applications unusable as well. However, such an occurrence will likely NOT affect 32-bit applications that are running simultaneously. |
